On behalf of Whittle Springs Park Condo Assoc

As far as what we don’t need in Knoxville, one thing is the so called affordable housing that is being approved for the area along Valley View, by the Whittle Springs golf course and our community of Whittle Springs Park. There is already an abundance of such housing along Valley View and it is not well maintained. By adding more units such as what is up for approval now on Valley View, you are adding fuel to the fire of a distressed area. That is totally what our area does not need. Help us out here folks. Require more from what is already here and stop adding more "affordable" housing where it is not needed. Would you do this to your community? We all know the answer to that.

Please work toward a rail transit to Gatlinburg, and Regional rail to Nashville/Atlanta/Asheville.

Also incorporation of futsal courts in basketball courts.

Knoxville and Knox County are experiencing steady growth, with Knox County’s population reaching approximately 511,500 in 2025. Recent successes, including significant reductions in violent crime (murders down 26% in 2025 to a 10-year low) and ongoing Vision Zero and Complete Streets initiatives, provide a strong foundation.

This proposal outlines integrated strategies: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and order maintenance; Complete Streets and traffic calming for accident reduction; 20-minute neighborhoods; productive urban forestry with fruit, nut, and berry trees; neighborhood and school allotment gardens linked to 4-H, DECA, and similar programs; church partnerships; and a phased government fleet transition to electric vehicles (EVs) with AC charging.

These measures are designed for fiscal conservatism—leveraging existing budgets, grants, partnerships, volunteers, and regulatory streamlining rather than tax increases. Over 10–20 years, they are projected to deliver lower crime and crash rates, healthcare savings of $8–80 million annually, improved diets, modest longevity gains, and stronger communities.

Provide KAT bus service down Francis Road at the Pines apartments. This would make public transit easier and more widely accessible to the residents at this apartment complex
